I didn’t get the word about a sport registration. How am I supposed to know when to register?

All city parks hold registration at the same time. The city makes this information public but unless you’re looking for it you won’t find it. So each park also has their own means of further publicizing this. We have some signs that we put up during registration times but they are not seen by many and they are often stolen. We also send out flyers through the public schools in our park zone and this has proved to reach most. Finally, you can always check this web site for the latest information.

How do I know what park zone I live in?

The city has a web site where you can enter your address and it’ll show you the zone you’re in. Click on this link,

Do I have to be a board member to make suggestions?

No. All suggestions are welcome and can be made to any board member.

Can I attend an HPL board meeting?

Yes. Board meetings are announced in advance on this web site and posted on the marquee in front of the park. Any general member is welcome to hear and/or be heard after which time the meeting will continue with board members only.

Why can’t I open the forms I download from here?

These forms are all what’s called PFD documents. This is very common and if you don’t already have it you can download the free reader from Adobe. You’ll find several links to it on this web site, or click

How are coaches chosen?

The president of the sport presents a list of coach candidates to the HPL board for approval. The board does not choose coaches from the list, they simply approve or not the submitted candidates.

I’ve heard of scholarships. What is that?

There are some HPL members who for good reason from time to time may not be in a stable enough financial position to pay the fee for their child to participate in an HPL sport. HPL wants all willing children to be able to participate so we have established a scholarship program in which the registration fee is waived for a player whose scholarship application is approved. In return, the parent/guardian requesting the scholarship will be asked to provide some volunteer services for HPL during the season. For a scholarship application click

Why aren’t all the baseball all-star teams announced at the same time?

Little League sanctioned tournaments, such as the 11-12 tournament, have strict rules and these rules specify exactly when a team can be announced and practice can begin. We have teams participating in other tournaments which are not Little League sanctioned and are governed by local rules. These may have no restrictions on announcements and practices. In this case we will not announce any team until after all the players on it have completed their regular season games.

Why does this web site look like it was done by an amateur rookie hacker?

Because it was.
